National Gallery London
Restoration and Replacement of Gallery
DPA has been associated with this building for over 45 years, having manufactured and installed all the fibrous plaster ceilings in the Sainsbury Wing, which was opened in 1991. This also included the large friezes to theGrand Staircase, all manufactured and installed by DPA, including all the design work.
Over the recent years, DPA have been responsible for supplying and installing new Fibrous Plaster/GRG to Six Galleries, working with Purcell Architects again and a number of contractors.
In addition, and as shown here, we have restored existing galleries’ vaulted ceilings following removal of the flat laylight ceiling that were put in place in the 1960s
This involved the complete remodelling of manufacture of theexisting/retained mouldings, including the huge cartouches that adorned the
vault ends along with the Large Modillion Block cornices and vaulted ceilings, as shown here.
